Everyone seems to be on some “health kick” bandwagon or in the middle of a new fad, phase, whatever you want to call it.

Fact is, they aren’t hippies, they’re people just like me & you who want to actually take charge of their lives & health! Who probably have realised the only way to take care of their body is if they go the DIY route! Not many doctors will give us natural alternatives to medicine because it does not benefit their pockets unfortunately! I’m writing this because I feel I should share my journey on the hollistic, natural #nonasties route to health.

Being a parent I’m realising I need to take care of my health because who will be here to take care of my children if I’m not? Having a few different issues with my health in regards to metabolism, I was advised to drink a simple tea. I was skeptical as I hadn’t heard of the ingredients. So I began following a few health & alkaline diet pages on Instagram & I slowly started to see more & more posts about these ingredients & the benefits. I thought I’d give it a try & decided to get the ingredients myself & I am amazed at the results!

So What’s This Tea?

Firstly, let me begin by saying that I am not a health practitioner, just someone who has tried & tested this! These are 100% natural nothing bad can come of trying a simple healthy alternative to your favourite cuppa & you only need to try this once a day, so it does not have to replace your usual tea.

These are roots & algae/kelp, you need to buy the natural roots & not look for “powders” or already made teas because, I cannot comment on those, I’m not sure what the contents are, its easier to use 100% natural ingredients you can see exactly what’s going inside & you can control the amount you use. I usually make this by eye, but I’ll give you measurements so you can have a rough idea on how much to use daily. My tea contains just 4 ingredients –

  • 1 TSP of Burdock Root – this has amazing benefits it can be used in treating & preventing infections, purifying the blood, can be used as a diuretic an antioxidant. It reduces inflammation & can also be used in treating or preventing cancer.
  • 1 TSP of Dandelion Root is highly nutritious, it contains potent antioxidants. Helps fight inflammation aids with blood sugar control can help reduce cholesterol & lowers blood pressure. Promotes a Healthy Liver & aids in weight loss.
  • 1 TBSP Bladderwrack is a form of kelp, high in Iodine which is essential for the human body. It has been used in stimulation of the Thyroid gland as a treatment for a healthy metabolism. It can help with cellulite, obesity & even ovulation.
  • 1 Tsp Sarsaparilla Root  is a plant. The root is used to make medicine. Sarsaparilla is used for treating psoriasis & other skin diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, & kidney disease, for increasing urination to reduce fluid retention & for increasing sweating.

I simply leave these to steep in boiling water in my tea press for around 10 minutes & drink. I will admit, it is not the best tasting tea & my daughter said it smells like sardines (that would be the Bladderwrack) but honestly, I just gulp it down then I follow it with a glass of my green juice –

What does it do?

I always have the green juice after the tea to get rid of the taste, because, like medicines, they don’t always taste great, but I just suck it up & drink it down & think of the benefits –

This tea is considered beneficial for thyroid, skeletal, pulmonary/respiratory, digestive, & urinary health. These botanicals are intended to be helpful when used as part of a healthy diet regimen intended to reduce weight & body fat percentage. Reduces inflammation, improves digestive health, is mineral rich & additionally, the iodine, calcium, & zinc, as well as many other vitamins & minerals in the tea, can help boost feelings of energy & vitality.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been drinking the tea daily & I feel the difference in my vitality & energy. I have been prescribed to take Iron tablets for life…. since drinking this tea I have not touched an Iron tablet, that’s how good this is!
I forgot to make it on the weekend & as a result I was SO tired! SunhanAllah it really is making a difference in my daily life, I feel more active, energised & alert! I am visiting the “little girls room” more often because the Sarspirilla root, but that’s a good thing because I have a lot of water retention due to my medication & I already am starting to feel lighter & have lost a few LBS! This is not just for metabolism problems, it’s good for weight loss, water retention & many skin disorders & general health.
While I will be honest & say it tastes like my grandads wet socks, I feel amazing! 😀

Wow I hadn’t heard of those herbs before. It’s so hard to find things like these in Qatar but I am interested to try this out. Are the measirements you mentioned food dosage or medicinal dosage ? Also Would it be recommended as a general health supplement if you are not targeting the specific problems mentioned?

Good stuff, I wonder if they have any type of tea that would be good to boost my vitamin D, I have to take vitimin D for the rest of my life. I also like to expeirment with tea. I enjoy fresh peppermint leaves with some liquorice tea roots. I drink it for the taste but not sure what the benefits are, but its very tasty.

I don’t think I’m as brave as you in just gulping down a rank tasting tea that smells like sardines. I tried something healthy once that was like that (minus the bad smell), and I couldn’t do it for many days. The juice looks pretty good, though. I’ll give it a try some time.

    • 20/12/2018 / 12:15 pm

Haha! It’s not actually that bad, I must have come accustomed to it LOL I guess it’s like most medicines, they don’t always taste great, but making you feel well weighs out the bad taste you have to endure. Thanks for reading! 😀
