Easy Quick Cooking

So i’ll be giving you my run down on the ultimate BishBashBosh tricks to make your kitchen time quicker & simpler!

Methods –

For utilising the time you have, you want to be organised to the max! Get everything set up & out in front of you….. ingredients, tools & any recipe books or recipe pages loaded on your phone & be ready to roll!

  • Set up appliances and heat the oven.
  • Get the water boiling immediately.
  • Load a pan with ingredients from the fridge.
  • Work out your prepping order and multitask
  • Grate your butter so you don’t have to wait for it to soften (life saver)
  • Cut food into smaller pieces (no brainer!)
  • Use wide, shallow pans – quicker food – yum!

Tools –

If you want to save time, there are a few gadgets that will make your life a LOT easier! It makes sense to invest in a few items that will make your kitchen time – less time!

  • A Good Quality, Sharp Chef’s Knife
  • Anything Dishwasher Safe
  • Flexible Plastic Cutting Board
  • Garlic Peeler/Crusher
  • Food Processor and Blender

THE ACTUAL FOOD PART –

Always have all of your ingredients available and ready to go before you start cooking. For some recipes where the dish is cooked very quickly, such as stir fry or Chicken fajita, you should have all of your ingredients cut and ready to go in advance before you start to cook. For other dishes such as soup which cooks longer, you can save time by doing the prep work as you cook versus having everything cut and ready to go in advance.

COOKING GRAINS

If you’ve been boiling a pot of water and then adding in grains like couscous or rice, you’ve been doing it wrong. Well, not wrong, just slowly!! Don’t bother waiting for a pot of cold water to reach a rolling boil on the stove because, lets be honest… you have better things to do with your time… like eating!

CHOP IT SMALL

Well, obviously this is the best way to save time…. last thing you need is waiting forever for a tough bit of meat or chicken to finish cooking when everything else is already cooked and getting cold! You can always speed things up the good old-fashioned way by cutting the ingredients into smaller sizes. You end up cutting everything smaller when you bite into it anyway, right?

MARINATING YOUR MEAT WILL PAY OFF

Have you ever wondered whether or not marinating meat is worth all the hype? Of course!! Marinating meat gives it tenderness and flavour! nobody wants to eat bland boring food! If you have the time to make a quick marinade before you need to cook up your meat,or better yet, marinade over night, or a few hours before, it’ll save you in the long run.

USE A PRESSURE COOKER

A pressure cooker is essentially a miracle to anyone who’s ever used one! If you don’t already have one, or never used one…. what have you been doing all this time?? … Oh yes, of course… spending ages in that kitchen of yours!! 😛
In all seriousness, it’s a handy tool that’ll speed up the cooking process, without sacrificing any of the flavour. In fact, if anything, it enhances flavour! This beautiful gift is the only tool that can replicate slow-cooked, beautifully braised meals in an hour or less. If that isn’t a serious time-saver, then what is?

FREEZING COOKIE DOUGH

Yes, sounds crazy, but it will save you a heck of a lot of hassle & always have that extra little treat when someone pops over, or the kids are HANGRY for a cookie or two!

Love all the tips, especially the rice tip, I’m always forgetting the water is bowling and frequently have to start the step again.
