No Sweat Fatayer Recipe

A Middle Eastern snack/appetizer that can be filled with anything!

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 Pack of yeast 2 & half tsp
  • Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Oil mixed 1/2 veg, 1/2 olive
  • 1 cup Yogurt
  • A little warm water

Other ingredients -

  • Zaatar Feta Cheese, Olive Oil, Sesame seeds.

Instructions

  1. Activate your yeast in warm water with the sugar.
  2. In another bowl put together the dry ingredients with the salt, then add into yeast and add your wet ingredients.
  3. Kneed for a few minutes then let rest covered in a warm place for about an hour.
  4. Once risen, pre-heat oven. Oil your hands and make little balls with the dough, flatten into your palm
  5. add cheese or whatever filling you're adding
  6. bring the dough around the filling into a ball and flatten again then put on baking tray. Brush with olive oil, add zatar and a bit more cheese on the top and press it in (otherwise they will slip off) and flatten/stretch once again with your fingers.

Recipe Notes

Think pizza when making these, Bake till light golden brown (My oven was 12-13 minutes)
